On September 15, 2018, World Cleanup Day, people in 150 countries will stand up against the global trash problem and clean up waste, making it the biggest positive civic action the world has seen. Imagine a powerful “green wave” starting in New Zealand and ending in Hawaii with hundred of millions of people taking positive action together on the very same day.
Come and join us to take part in the biggest civic action in history while we help launch a cleaner future in the Illawarra!
Our JCI Illawarra ‘Let’s Do It!’ project will bring together our local business community with those organisations already championing sustainability and waste issues in our region to build the relationships that will help make the Illawarra a more sustainable place to live, visit and do business! Junior Chamber International (JCI) has a long term partnership with the United Nations, and we are focused on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through our projects.
We will start on the grass next to North Wollongong Surf Club to introduce the amazing sustainability focused organisations we are supporting, before targeting North Wollongong Beach, Wollongong Harbor, Puckeys Reserve and Puckeys Beach in an almighty clean up effort! Register your interest here.
We are also raising funds as part of World Clean Up Day, to support young people in the Illawarra to do stuff that matters. How you can help?
Target 1: $1,000 – Outdoor Discovery
Help support Intrepid Landcare to host a regional Illawarra tour looking at high impact environmental projects and meeting key people in the landscape who are inspiring, energised and doing something positive.
Target 2: $5,000 – Green School Inspiration
Help young Intrepid Landcare leaders visit local Illawarra schools to discuss the local environment, and inspire and empower students to take action within their school or community.
Target 3: $10,000 – Leadership Retreat
Help Intrepid Landcare inspire and empower 20 young leaders from the Illawarra community to design and deliver initiatives for other young people across the region.
